When I think of my values, I like to think of them as stars ✨
They’re always there, even when I don’t see them. When in doubt, they give me orientation. When I look up, I remember where I am. And even though my world is turning, turning…
… values are relatively stable. They can shift – through new experiences, crises, developmental phases, or changes in our environment. Role transitions or social changes may lead to new values surfacing, or existing ones becoming more relevant.
That’s right – our values are not all equally important! Some burn brightly, demanding to be lived, while others glow quietly in the background.
Values give us orientation and guide our thoughts and emotions. When we live in alignment with them, life feels meaningful, coherent, and full.
My Values – What matters most?
In coaching, you explore your values. You identify personal guiding principles, question inherited or adopted ones, and examine how they fit your current life and work.
You also reflect on how fully your values are expressed in your everyday reality – and begin integrating them more consciously into your professional and personal actions.
And no, we don’t uncover your values by checking boxes on a generic list 🚫
Instead, I guide you through a dedicated values interview or we design a writing challenge that helps you connect deeply with what truly drives you.
In the first German version of my Integral Improvisational Coaching Approach, I called one of the perspectives “Personality and Integrity Counts.” Today, I call it “Explore Your Inner Existence.” The combination of both brings it to the point: To act with integrity, you need to be aware of your value system – and use it as your guide for action.
You probably can name at least one value that feels central and is shining brightly! So here’s a question for you: What’s one important value for you – and how much is it realized in your current life?
And once you’ve clarified what matters most, the next question might be: Who are you…? Next up: your personality.
