A psychologist, a musician, and a coach walk into a bar.
Sounds like the beginning of a bad joke, right? What if I told you it describes my inner work behind developing my coaching approach – just without the bar.
It was time to bring my inner team together:
- The psychologist
- The musician
- The coach
They don’t perform as soloists. They work together. Some might call it improvising 😉
Through the connection between these three, I work from three core perspectives in my coaching: science, practice, and creativity.
I’ll share more about each of them. Today, let’s start with science.
When my inner psychologist and coach jam together, things get science-y.
During my master’s in psychology, I specialized in work and organizational psychology. I focused on leadership, personality, and team dynamics. Engaging with research on virtual teamwork and leadership laid the very foundation for what I do today as an online coach.
When I later chose advanced coach training, I wanted something that would bridge to my psychology background while expanding it with other fields like neurobiology and systems theory. That’s how I found my way to the integral coaching approach. More on that soon.
Today, when it comes to science, I absolutely love taking research, theories, and frameworks and turning them into something people can actually use in a simple, engaging, and practical way.
My goal is to support people – and myself – in applying these insights to real development: personally, in teams, and across whole organizations.
Now, we’ve explored the science part – the part that loves evidence, systems, and structure.
But what’s structure without a little chaos? Next up: my inner musician takes the stage 🎷
