When reflection, action, connection, and structure start to flow…
In coaching, we engage in an energizing, thought-provoking, co-creative process. It’s emotionally deep, mentally surprising and focused on action.
And what do we call it when this doesn’t feel scripted but very much alive?
For me, it’s Integral Improvisational Coaching. Yeah, I know. Not the shortest name out there. But it beautifully captures its essence: it’s integral, it’s improvisational, it’s coaching!
We’ve looked at the details in earlier posts – now it’s time to bring it all together.
You, your coaching topic, your development: We look at it through four windows. Each one shows you something new about what it means to grow as a person, as a professional, and as part of a larger system. Together, they give you the full picture of who you are and how you show up in the world!
These windows are:
Explore Your Inner Existence
The Individual Internal View
You explore your inner landscape to understand what drives you, what limits you, and what feels most authentic. It’s the space of your thoughts, emotions, values, and beliefs. You ask the "why" behind what you do: What truly matters to you? What do you stand for? How do the stories you tell yourself shape the way you work, lead, and work with others?
People who make a habit of looking within develop a deep sense of clarity and integrity. It supports you in feeling both calm and energized, enhancing your well-being and productivity – and with that, we’re already looking through our next window.
Use Improvisation and Intuition
The Individual External View
Here, this reflection turns into action. You look at how you behave and how you translate insight into practice. This means experimenting, taking small steps, trying out new ways of reacting, and learning from real-life experiences.
You build your knowledge in areas that matter: how you lead, how you speak, how you connect, how you work with others, and how you take care of your health. It’s about your ability to act with presence, to improvise, and to find solutions that feel both intuitive and effective – especially when there’s no script to follow.
Go With Your Groove
The Collective Internal View
This window opens to the shared space between people – relationships, common values, and culture. You look at the feelings and dynamics that shape how well you get on with others, how you build trust, and how you co-create meaning.
In organizations, this sows up as a culture where people both value and challenge one another. This allows cooperation, self-organization, and innovation to flow naturally. A team that “grooves” together shares values, energy, and a sense of purpose that performance naturally grows from.
Design Process and Polarities
The Collective External View
With our final window we look at structure – the systems, ways of working, and spaces that shape how we live and how we get things done. You reflect on your context: your family or team situation, how decisions get made, and organizational patterns.
Structure and flexibility. Science and creativity. Reflection and action. People who embrace ambiguity and its polarities are the ones thriving in today’s complex world.
All together, you become crystal clear about your personal and professional goals – and the steps needed to get there!
In coaching, you basically jam with my inner psychologist, musician, and coach. Naturally, the coach wears the leadership hat during our sessions – but draws on the psychologist’s scientific depth and the musician’s creative flow. Together, we create a space that’s structured and spontaneous.
Or, as I stated earlier: it’s integral, it’s improvisational, it’s coaching! 😁
Next up: We’ve explored the “why” and “what” – now it’s time for the “how.” What concrete methods bring my approach to life?
