You want. You maybe could. You definitely should. But you don’t.

Yes, I know you know I know you know what you need to do. You know why I know? Because you read the books. You asked your friends. You talked to colleagues. You watched the videos. You scrolled social media.

You know you should breathe before reacting. You know you should be more mindful. You know you should improve your resilience, work on your presence, take breaks, delegate tasks, say no, finish the project, ask for help, let go. Should stop overthinking. You know.

And you want. You maybe could. You definitely should. But you don’t.

And with that, I just described arguably the most well-known gap of all. Let me whisper its name: the knowing-doing gap. Gasp! Yes, I said it. The knowing-doing gap.

Because in the end, a skill is a skill when you can bring it from your head into the external world.

In coaching, you build this bridge. Or, let me rephrase that: you build your bridge. Because I believe tips, tricks, and hacks will. not. work. If they did, they would have already worked their magic. It’s time to find your way – your way to finally jump to the other side.

So what are skills? They are multifaceted abilities that span different areas of development, not just professional or technical expertise.

They include how you notice what’s going on inside you, how well you can regulate your feelings, how flexible your mind is when things don’t go as planned, and how you respond to stress or uncertainty. In other words, how well you improvise 🎷

My Skills – What am I capable of?

In coaching, you explore your professional, social, and mental skills – and develop them further. This includes how you handle your emotions and interact in social situations. In my experience, this is one of the most impactful areas of coaching: learning to navigate emotions like sadness, frustration, or anger.

Rather than following generic tips or tricks, you discover your own way of feeling and working with them. In the moment, it can feel awkward or uncomfortable to notice, feel, and work with your emotions – but afterwards, it’s deeply relieving and empowering. Once you find that unique approach, life truly feels different: richer, more authentic, and more energizing!

I find this a very fulfilling part of coaching, because it can be intense, deep, and healing.

Skills also include the strengths so natural to you that you barely recognize them. What feels “just normal” is often exactly where your biggest leverage lies. In coaching, you explore how to use those strengths deliberately – and how to avoid overusing them. For that, we can use self-assessments.

Another big element of coaching is to develop your inner resources that help you access feelings like joy, love, or calm. I can guide you through a transformative process by working through the mental, emotional, and physiological layers of your experience, so you can bring these qualities into difficult conversations, leadership situations, and day-to-day interactions.

And with all of that, you get from knowing to doing – and at some point to becoming and being.

Of course, coaching can also support you expand your knowledge. So you might ask yourself: What do I know?
