Once you’re in China, you become one with your translation app. That’s how you make your way through the city of Shanghai in the moments when there’s no local business partner by your side.
That way may lead you by a high-traffic crossroads. But if you close your eyes you might mistake it for a village street because – it’s silent. 95% of the cars passing are electric. And you hear that. Or better: you don’t.
What would you call it when you had one single app that could: pay for workshop material? Translate signs in seconds? Order a taxi and food? Communicate with colleagues and the hotel? Some might call it the future. Some might call it “the era when AI has finally taken over”. In China, you call it WeChat. The WhatsApp that lets you pay, order, text and translate everything everywhere all at once.
During our visit, I co-facilitated an intense two-day leadership workshop with our partners and friends over at andQfive for a multinational company. During the workshop, I mainly focused on delivering insights about…

- Understanding how your brain works to handle challenging situations,
- Using mindfulness and breathing to regulate in stressful leadership situations.
The final feedback round showed all types of personal insights. We’ll continue working on them in our 1:1 online coaching sessions!
I feel so honored to play a small role in the personal & professional development journey of the up-and-coming leaders from China, the Philippines, Singapore, and Japan.
For me, this journey has already been an eye-opening experience.
After a few days of preparation and workshop, we enjoyed a Chinese dinner at the Bund at night and let beautiful cherry blossoms steal everyone's show by day.
