Night and day in Shanghai 🇨🇳
I feel sad, excited and grateful:
- 4 days of face-to-face workshops
- 13 hours of online workshop sessions
- 15 individual online coaching sessions
After eight months, we finally finished the intense leadership development program! Designed and delivered by my colleagues at andQfive and me.
I learned a lot about Asian culture from our participants from China, the Philippines, Singapore, and Japan.
Sure, you can read books, watch videos, or get insights from colleagues. But nothing compares to being ‘in’ it.
When your go-to apps don’t work anymore – no YouTube, no LinkedIn, no Insta, no WhatsApp, no Google Workspace. You adapt. You download apps for messaging, directions, and taxis. You connect bank cards, troubleshoot with hotel and driver, and constantly scan and translate signs and texts.
You breathe QR codes and live on WeChat. WeChat – the Chinese WhatsApp that lets you pay, order, text, and translate everything everywhere all at once.
Lessons I took home:
- Don’t assume anything, ever.
- It’s not either/or, it’s both/and.
- Be gentle, clear and care deeply.

I feel sad to leave the connections I built over the months. And I feel excited to see what’s ahead for my coaching clients – professionally and personally.
A sincere appreciation to how you helped me sort through my thoughts and look at things with greater clarity. Your thoughtful guidance, practical tips, and the questions you raised during our conversations were extremely useful and gave me new perspectives that I can continue to apply in my work and development. – Client
Yes, I feel grateful.
