I’ve lived and worked in Berlin since 2019. Berlin suits me well, because this city seems to be able to handle all types of contradictions, don't you think?

I myself live in polarities: I love inner reflection but also hands-on action. I love to structure things but also love freedom and autonomy. I have a background in science but also a big heart for the art.

This tension creates energy – exactly the potential that's also released in my work as a coach!

If you're currently looking for an English-speaking coach in Berlin: Hey, I'm Christine Paulus.

I’ve had a coaching practice since 2013. I'm an M. Sc. Psychologist, certified Integral & Business Coach, member of the International Coaching Federation and I hold additional certification for team and organizational coaching. I work in fluent English and German, from Berlin.

And – you might have guessed it – I love coaching.

Who I Work With

Since 2013 I've worked with doctors, entrepreneurs, project managers, educators, scientists, founders, engineers, consultants, people leads, CEOs, and private individuals in vastly different fields.

Right now, you might be:

  • An executive in an international role
  • A professional in a career or life transition
  • A founder whose company is growing faster than you are
  • An international working at a Berlin tech company or startup
  • A German whose work life happens in English, and who wants a coach who works there too

You might wonder how working across all these industries is possible – well, I don't tell people what to do. It's not my job to give you advice on how to do your job.

But I do know how you find answers to questions like:

  • "Who am I?"
  • "How should I decide?"
  • "What do I really want?"
  • "Why do I react like that?"
  • "What's really important now?"
  • "What type of leader do I want to be?"
  • "My business grows quicker than myself?!"
  • "Everything seems to be fine but it doesn't feel like that!"
Your core beliefs, mental-emotional skills, and behavioral patterns don't care about your industry…

Yes, I'm joking – but it's also true. In the end, we all struggle with similar questions.

And coaching is the space where you can find your answers.

My promise to you? I won't give you generic advice. I won't hand you my solutions. I'll create a space where you can think – without "good advice", at your own pace. I'll challenge you, though.

Why Coaching in English Matters (Even If Your German is Good)

Berlin life comes with its own set of questions – some professional, some personal, some hybrid. If you know, you know. It’s the German city of all possibilities – and exactly that can be overwhelming.

As a psychologist, I know: even if your German is fluent, coaching in your mother tongue or your professional everyday language is different. We process emotion, values, and identity differently. You've probably noticed it yourself: switch languages, and suddenly you're a slightly different person.

That's why I work with clients in the language they think and feel in most naturally. For some that's English. For some it's German. For others it's moving between the two, sometimes within the same sentence. All of that is welcome here.

Online – From Wherever You Are

Here's a – not so secret – secret: You can work with me from your own comfy sofa, home office, or favorite desk. Why? Because I offer online coaching. Yes!

I work with people from Germany, Europe, the Americas, IMEA, and APAC. And with people from Berlin, of course. Do they log in online? Yes. Why? Because it's super flexible, adapts to your needs, and – it works.

I even wrote a short article about it – you can read it here: New Research: Does Business Coaching Work?

How Does it Work?

We meet every few weeks for 60–90 minutes. You determine how often you come into our sessions. This highly depends on what you'd like to tackle in coaching.

To figure this out, we'll have a discovery call where we can get to know each other. It's a 30-minute phone call, free, and confidential. You share your thoughts and goals with me – and I tell you if and how I can support you on your journey.

My Coaching Approach

I'm a musician and psychologist turned personal & business coach. I bring the essence of both into the coaching room – the science, structure, and reason of psychology, and the improvisation, creativity, and listening of music.

I call this the Integral Improvisational Coaching Approach, and I was invited to talk about it at TEDx Berlin in 2016.

You're a whole person. Your identity, your values, your beliefs, your skills, the ways you think. We look at all of it, not just one slice.

To do that, we work through four perspectives:

Integral Improvisational Coaching by Christine Paulus

We work with these perspectives all at the same time:

  • Explore Your Inner Existence. We explore your values, beliefs, and inner landscape. Understanding who you are helps you make decisions aligned with what truly matters to you.
  • Use Improvisation and Intuition. We work with what's showing up right now. Learning to be present within uncertainty helps you respond authentically to what the moment requires.
  • Go With Your Groove. We explore the culture, relationships, and shared purpose within your team or organization. This helps you build deeper connections and find collective flow.
  • Design Process and Polarities. We map the systems and structures around you. By understanding the tensions and polarities at play, you can navigate complexity with more clarity.

What Clients Say

»I experienced Christine as an insightful and empathic business coach that helped me identify solutions tailored to me (rather than a one-size-fits-all approach).« Anna Janska

»Within the coaching process I could outgrow myself, regain my intuition and inner trust. Feel secure. Feel valued. Feeling free to say and ask whatever I needed to. Being able to formulate my inner self and work with it. I always felt supported, triggered to give all I've got to go one step further. I am very glad I decided to go this way with Ms Paulus. Thank you!«

»In mid-2023, my business had grown rapidly – faster than I had. Christine supported me in regaining the necessary professional distance in entrepreneurial decisions. Nothing was imposed or spoon-fed to me. Thanks to the questioning techniques, I was able to see clearly again where the journey was going and what role I had or didn't have. More than valuable support that I would not want to do without in the future. (Translated from German)« Anna Kunert – Business Owner, Gefährtenschmiede

»Today, after several coaching sessions, I must say that thanks to the exchange and Christine Paulus' moderation, I now have a clear roadmap for my short-, medium-, and long-term future. I was able to organize experiences, thoughts, personal and professional goals, and I continue to do so with her guidance. Therefore, my clear recommendation is to have a kickoff conversation and an initial session with her – an absolutely positive ROI!(Translated from German)« Lennart Heyner – Founder & Head of Sales, Crafting Future

Frequently Asked Questions

Do you coach in English or German?
Both, fluently. Many clients move between the two within a session. You choose which feels most natural.
Are you a therapist or a coach?
I'm an M. Sc. psychologist and a certified coach. In this practice, I work as a coach. I'm not a therapist. Coaching supports people who want to work through decisions, roles, transitions, values, emotions, or leadership. Therapy is for clinical issues like depression, trauma, or anxiety, eating or personality disorders. If you're unsure what's right for you, I encourage you to talk to a licensed therapist.
How is coaching different from therapy?
Coaching and therapy have a lot of similarities. If we zoom in on the differences, coaching starts with the assumption that you're capable of dealing with everyday challenges like getting up and ready or being mentally and emotionally able to work. It also asks you to be able to look forward – at what you want to build, decide, or become. Therapy typically starts from a psychological symptom or a clinical condition. Both are valuable, and they're not the same thing.
Do I need to speak German to work with you?
No. Many of my clients work with me entirely in English.
Where in Berlin are you based?
I'm based in Berlin Mitte and coach online, which means we can work together whether you're in Mitte, Kreuzberg, Prenzlauer Berg, Neukölln, Charlottenburg, or anywhere else in the city – or well beyond it.
Can we meet online?
Yes. All coaching sessions happen online by default. That's what makes the schedule work for founders, executives, and international clients across time zones.
How long does a coaching engagement take?
It varies. Some clients come for a focused set of 5–8 sessions. Others realize that coaching is a supportive format for regular check-ins with themselves, a sparring partner for leadership decisions, and a structured way to keep developing. You decide the cadence.
What happens in the free discovery call?
30 minutes, on the phone, confidential. We get to know each other. You tell me what you're working on. I tell you honestly whether coaching – and coaching with me specifically – is the right fit.
