Creative strategist and entrepreneur Tedd Bernard invited me to his panel and workshop at Soho House Berlin where international creatives, entrepreneurs and media professionals meet. He had already hosted quite a few similar events in the US. This was his debut in Europe.
He fired a few interview questions: What’s a leadership coaching myth I want to see debunked? What does improvisation look like for me – not on stage but in the meeting room? Great questions to get the conversation going and set the tone.
After the interview panel, we spontaneously split the room. Tedd shared an app-based brain training experience with brain1 while I improvised an ad-hoc group coaching session.
I invited everyone to ask themselves and journal:
What's one thing you're currently feeling stuck on?
After a few more questions and sharing our thoughts with the group, we realized: Naming the "stuckness", putting it onto paper or typing it into the phone and – most importantly – bringing it into a non-judgmental space already sparked some insights.
The pattern I see with ambitious, creative people: They love to add things to their plate. At some point it becomes difficult not to get overwhelmed or lose focus. Then, it’s all about: getting clear on your values, goals and direction and finally overcoming the gap between knowing what to do and actually doing it.
At the end, we all left with a small first step to get going.
Loved the casual, curious, open-minded vibe – let’s do this again!
